I wanted to know if anyone has had problems and knows how to fix playing DVDs on playstation. My playstation plays the opening previews but fails to read the rest of the DVD.

I noticed on a previous post someone mentioned changing the booktype. What should it be changed to?

Booktyping your media: It can only be done if your dvd burner has this feature. My benq's do, as well as some other models.I can only booktype the + format to dvd-rom.

What model of burner do you have?
What brand/format/and speed rate is the media you are using?
How fast are you trying to burn them?

The main thing is: How do those backups look on your pc using the dvd-rw drive that burned them?

I don't change the booktype but the majority of my back up DVD's play in my daughter's PS2: -R and +R. The ones that don't are usually the cheap media ones (stop using long time ago)and ones burned at high speeds where you can see a halo effect on the back of the DVD.
With the questions Saugmon asked your solution can probably be found.

I have a Memorex that burns DVD+/-R at 16x. I am also using their +R DVDs. As far as the burn speed, I'm using the default settings that DVDSHRINK uses. The DVDs look fine on the run through with my regular DVD player.
