    I bought my PS2 slim ( scph-77006 v15 ) in Thailand
I can't play DVDs on it
when I press for 3 sec on the RESET button ( disables the chip ) the DVD works but with regional issues ( a DVD from Thailand showed a black screen with nothing... a DVD from my home is displaying a regional message )
I've opened the PS2 to see what chip i got installed
all I could see is "Pro 7" written on it

    can anyone help me ?
can anyone tell me what chip it is ? can i upgrade the firmware on it ?

I've managed to play the DVD from Thailand ( after disabling the chip )
the problem with playing the DVD from my zone is still at large
also , I would like to identify my chip ( to know if it's upgradeable and supports DVDs )

there is no telling what chi you have. They have a tone of different clone chips in the asia market. But i can tell you it is almost a 100% chance that it is a clone chip and is not upgradeable.
I know they use to have a chip in asia called a super 7 as well.
