It sounds like fake sound files. Its what the music industry does to stop people from downloading music using Kazaa (Fast Track network). Its not a problem with Kazaa or your player! Some court said it was illegal for the RIAA to put viruses on the P2P networks but that they could distribute fake files.

If you really want to be informed read these: http://www.mp3newswire.net/sect/archive.htm

The only thing I can suggest is to choose another downloader/network, one that isn't under the eye of the RIAA. Since your downloading mp3's I would recommend WinMx if you have a fast connection (Cable, DSL, T1). I havin't had problems with fakes using it.

Heres a sight with more options for free P2P downloading software: http://www.dawnload.net/p2p_software/p2p_applications/
