Please help me. I have a Pioneer in dash DVD player in my car. I am trying to find a blank hub printable brand of media that my head unit will be able to read. The last purchase I made was for the Ridata DVD+R disks. Unfortunaetly my DVD backups won't play on this media in my vehicle. Does anyone know of a brand that will. I wouldn't think that the software I am using to burn would have anything to do with it, but in case it does I am using DVD NEXTCOPY.

    Thanks in advance,
    Justin Carrol

Ritek don't enjoy a good reputation with some/all members here at AD. Here's a link to a guide for quality media.

If you can, buy Taiyo yuden, these are a very popular choice with all that have used them. Personaly, I use TDK, they are not on top of any list, but they are reliable. Which ever brand you adopt, try using -R.

If it's good software and guides on how to use it/them, try this site by AD's bbmayo. you can also download from there. Some are freeware, some are shareware. Good luck.

The best chance is booktyping those plus format riteks to dvd-rom,but your burner must have bit-setting capability to booktype.

This booktyping sets the plus format to dvd-rom,making for higher compatable backups. Your car's player sounds like a picky player.

Your player could have an issue with those specific ritek discs, maybe a firmware update in due for your burner?

When it comes to inkjet printable media, taiyo yuden, verbatim, and the japanese maxell-HITACHI-are the only brands I use.

For playback issues-like no disc errors/dirty disc/wrong region/wrong format error messages-any of the following can make a drive not recognize backups:

    1) Media quality-bad batch
    2) Speed of the burn
    3) Burn engine
    4) Backup target size-keep under 4360 mbs
    5) Format-switch to opposite-booktype if you have capability.
    6) Programs transfering avi,bit-torrents,etc into a dvd.
    7) Burner quality-keep firmware updated.
    8) Dirty laser lens-once all the culprits above are ruled out.

Perfectai: What is the brand name, model #,and current firmware version of your dvd-rw drive?

Use this free tool to find that info and post back:
