Well Roxio is not the most popular program here to say the least. You did not have to buy anything to copy a movie. You can do it with free programs.

I want to get you on the right track here...

You can get the programs and a guide here:

    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide3.html

A few pointers first though. Movies, at least most commercial ones are encrypted so your Roxio will not copy them. DVD Decrypter and a few other programs can get you past this.

The typical movie you want to record is way to big to fit on a regular blank DVD. Unless you are starting off with expensive double layer blank media you will need to compress the thing to fit. Shrink will do that for you.

Roxio conflicts with various other programs. The CD packet writing feature is the culprit.

Quality blank DVDs are very very important. Most failed burns are caused by media problems. Verbatim, Ritek and Taiyo Yuden are generally pretty good.

DVD+RWs and DVD-RWs are reusable. This is important when starting out because you can erase them and try again untill you get the procedure figured out.

    And Lastly,
    Welcome to Afterdawn!!

Keep us posted and we will be glad to help you out.
