i discovered that you could back up ps2 games about a year ago so i spent about 6 months assembling a information and the necessary hardware.i eventually got the backups to work...badly they loaded up but did not run very fast and took ages to load(i backed up nfsunderground2 and san andreas)
    why?
    do backups not work flawlessly?
i lost all faith in the idea and turned to other projects
but now i implore you restore my faith in game copying!

    (please!)

try better media like verbatim or ritek. Don't use memorex because it uses the same dye as your using.

i use ritek g05, read image files with dvd decrypter and burn them with alcohol 120% at 2x (i find burning with at 1x causes a slow load or not even a read sometimes, and burning at 4x has its own problems). i use swap magic 3.3 and everything works perfectly.

Sounds to me as though maybe your laser is dirty.

Give it a clean and see if that did the trick.
    If not post back.

Dude, that is not the problem it is the knife trick.Think about this for a minute, you are sticking something inbetween the space of the disc tray pushing the white pin back and forth. If you think about it,it isn't a very good method to use to backup your games.I did the knife method for awhile on my first PS2,and it destroyed the system.Another thing is that if you use the knife trick, you can also mess with your laser.Alot of people mention using the slidecard method, but after using the knife trick on my first PS2(similiar to the slidecard).I plan on staying away from this technique.
