I recently purchased a Pioneer 105 writer and have burned 30 2X Maxell DVD-R's with no problem. I then decided to get cheaper media and after deciding on Ritek 4X from Rima.com, I burned about 6 at 4X with no problems. On my seventh Ritek however, the writer just up and died! It won't read anything let alone write anything anymore. I have upgraded the firmware to version 1.21 from Pioneer's website before using the Ritek's. My question to all you smart people is this: Do you think I could have damaged the drive with the Ritek disks? I am going to get a new one and would not want to do the same thing again. Any advice would be great! Thanks

riteks disks are crappy. ive heard a lot of the same problems with other people. Get the new burner and use something like memorex, verbatim, major brand names. A lot of dvd writers dont like certain types of dvd's.
