I have just ripped(using DVD Shrink) Road Trip. I then Burned it with Nero. I think the compression in shrink was about 87%, which i thought would be quite good. I put it onto my DVD player and it is actually quite poor. It isn't that bad that i wouldnt watch it but i did expect it to be better. Its just a little hazy and cheap looking, not like the crystal clearness of an orignal DVD. Is this about right or do you think i could have done something wrong??

    gaz,
The trick with shrink is to experiment using dvdrw disks. 87% compression shouldn't pose a problem even with the best quality tv. I have copied LOR Two towers with around 64% compression and unless you are one of these geekes who sits a foot from the tv looking for errors, the damn thing is more than watchable to me.
What i don't understand is why so many people are determined to copy the entire disk inc extras?
the best thing about shrink is the reauthoring section. Any movie under 2 hours will copy perfectly without any compression exceot for the ring. anyone have any ideas why the ring 1:45 hours requires 75% compresion.

I am currently trying to copy ali g and without the extras the film would fit perfectly on one disk, i think!? In Shrink is the extras folder the actual extras on the DVD or is it part of the main film?

Tongx- you need to go to the guides section on this website at the top of the page. Read all of the DVD articles a few times that should give you the basics. I am also new to this and they helped me a great deal.

    tongx,
Try removing the unnecessary sound files. Out of all the sound files on the DVD, you usually only need to keep one. I prefer to keep the AC36Channel sound for the movie itself. DTS is a no no, especialy if you do not have the equipment to play it.
As i said previously, most films will not be compressed unless they are over 2hours.
