I am using WinMX 3.31 and operating system is XP Professional. I am on cable running a linksys router...up until yesterday my connections were solid...now i cannot download any higher then 3 to 5 k
and people are having a hard time connecting to me for uploads...i have tried every thing i can think of...eliminating the router, different pcs...a prior ghost backup before service pack 2...changing ports...nothing seems to help...

it would seem like my isp may be the culprit, but having changed the ports...i dont know if that is the case...cable company said they have not limited anything or blocked any ports...

any suggestions or advise will be greatly appreciated...thanks....joyce :)

Thank you for your input. I have been to that page and I have tried all that was suggested, all to no avail. I am very frustrated, not knowing what to do. I even eliminated the router and had the same results.

i have not tried the new version of winmx yet...i have heard bad reports on it...i did try to go back to an earlier version, which game me the same results...my speed tests are great...everything they should be...download speeds i get are only up to 3k and noone can connect to me for an unpload in winmx...i am having several people try winmx who have the same cable provider as i do (adelphia) and see what their results are...i may even try another p2p client..but for now things are very srange in cyber land...thanks for the input :)

If you are a primary user check your bandwidth settings in winmx,if you are making a secondary connection check to see if the primary you are connecting to has a fast connection.plus download speeds on winmx depend on who you are downloading from, how many they have in que or there upload speed. But i have had this problem with Winmx before also and it usually works it self out in a couple days, dont know why.

i am a secondary user..and i know the person i was downloading from and their speeds are good...i usually can get 30k from them...how do you check the primary connection you are connecting to? is there a way to do that? also, i hope you are right and it clears itself out because this is the pits...i am just hoping it is not my isp!!!

i will try that...however, i am pretty sure that my isp is filtering bandwidth to p2p's..after trying several p2ps...the speed was identical to that in winmx...this was tried on different pcs and different operating systems...all with the same results..this is more then a coincidence...i hope people start listing similar problems in forums...since adelphia has declined having any knowledge of any problem or limitations of bandwidth on their part...

Did anyone ever figure out what the solution is, I'm experiencing the same problem with Winmx?

My Winmx program has been running fine lately.

Is there a chance the the same thing will happen to winmx and irc like what happened to napster and kazaa?
