Some of my PS2 backups play in black & white.
I have bought the correct scart lead but this does not help. i am using a 50Mhz portable tv. i think i read somewhere that it needs to be 60Mhz. can someone confirm this
    Thanks

Yup, i had this problem a long time ago with my PS1. NTSC games run in 60Hz, PAL games run in 50Hz. Some of your backups are probably NTSC games and hence run in black and white. As far as i could find for the PS1 at least was that you needed a TV that supported 60Hz. There may be some sort of converter you can get for the PS2 though.

I dunno, if you look around there are places saying they sell converters that make 60Hz games run in colour, though i suspect that they're just RGB scart cables, which is presumably what you have.

Buying a new TV is much more expensive, but pretty much every new TV you can buy will be able to run 60Hz games(i got one for £60 that can do it)
