    Hi,

I have suffered what looks like a power hardware failure on Nokia Dbox2 (2x Avia) running Sportster 1.7+ uk005. The problem started when the picture froze and the only way to restart it was to unpluf it and the plug it back in. However, when plugged back in - no power anymore- no LCD display - absolutely nothing.

Is there an easy way to get this repaired? Can you recommend anyone? or just skip it?

I have opened the box up and cannot see any visible signs of burnt components around the power area.

    Help much appreciated.

Check the fuse at the plug.

I have already tried 2-3 3A fuses on the Euro to Uk convertor plug

    Hi mgb17,

Thanks for your help so far . Much appreciated.

I have located the "soldered fuse" like the one in your link in the dbox. Sorry for the dumb questions but how can I check if this is faulty? or do you recommend that I try and buy a fuse and have it replaced?

Cam I purchase this fuse in the UK or do I need to order it from Germany?

To replace the fuse - is it just a matter of unsoldering the existing one and soldering a new one on the box?

    Thanks

Let the fuse check from a TV repair shop or such thing else.
You should dismantle the dbox. The fuse have to be desoldered and resoldered from underneath of the mainboard.
Here is a tut for a nokia dismantling:

Don't cut anything. The tut is for a hdd set and you don't have to cut anything as showed at the end of the pictures.

Thanks for your help. I will have the fuse looked at by a qualified repair person.

Final question - is the fuse only available from Germany or can I buy an equivalent in th UK.

    Thanks again.

Its a normal standard fuse for electrical items and every TV repair shop should have it.

Thanks. I will update the thread once the unit has been repaired with the fuse.
