hi, i was wondering if any pro solderers out there could give a newbie a very detailed guide as to how to solder modchips. right down the wire thickness, how to prep it, how to hold it, everything. it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could do this for me.

Here what you need to do, assuming that you never have soldered before.
    Practice! Practice! Practice! Practice!!!!!
Find a old circuit board somewhere, (old stereo, old playstation, etc.)
now try and solder wires to the smallest chip on it.

here is a link to the items and how to prep them.

Be careful and take your time.
AND I SAY AGAIN Practice on something old first.

what you are looking for is a circuit board with a chip on it.
so you can learn to solder a wire to a chip that is already mounted on a board.

    yes you need small wires
    30 - 34 for Bios Chip

I always says -to learn something you have to just try-
BUT if you have never soldered before i would suggest getting someone else to do it.
you dont want to fry your ps2

thats about the average of the sites ive seen that have a service to mod your PS2. its outragous. id be willing to pay like 20 bucks or somethign but 179 is wayyy to much.

not sure where you are looking but the avarage is about 40-60usd . any more and your paying to much , any less any i would worry that they either dont know what they are doing or its a scam . either way 179 is insane when most places will supply a chip/install.and return shipping for alot less than that , and that is much cheaper than killing your ps2 .

ok i did a more through search but the cheapest one that i could find was 90 bucks. (i found out the 179 was for the PS2 and the mod chip, stupid me haha). but 90 still seems preety high. do you have any suggestions of where to send it in for the price range that you said?
