Nah maskeeta not elusive if you look at the history of the thread sometimes takes a bit for them to post back - maskeeta won't leave us hangin :)

But at this point I argee a new drive is the last option.

thats the brand burners I use and they are solid little drives, and with price dropping to under $40...wow. I remember how much my first CDR burner cost...the price of that would send most of you into sticker shock. buy the liteon burner by all means.

    Hey maskeeta
That's a helluva price. Come to think of it my Liteon is over 2 years now (paid like $150 for it- going price then) I may just have to buy this one myself :)
You even get a cd/dvd wallet, nero and power dvd too :)

You meet the ram requirements - so just make sure you have a P4 w/ 1.3 GHz cpu or higher.

    Def. keep us posted!

Many of the new writers are cheaper than a tank of gas nowadays. Masqueeta, you really have nothing to lose, think of it as an upgrade.

Reformatting a hard drive is always a last resort method.
The last time i did it, it took me four days to reload all my programs.

The best way of doing this is to get Ghost and save a drive image to your second hard drive. I create a new image prior to adding new hardware or periodically when I feel my system is ok. If I have problems that I can't handle, I just restore the last image. It takes about 15 minutes and I'm back to normal. It's been a life saver to me.

And you are right! I pulled up the wrong model #. That one is still listed as, "In Stock". When you tried to purchase it did it tell you that it was on back order?

Damn maskeeta you lucked out - $25!!
    Too bad I didn't :)

After you get the drive - if you need help installing just post back.

Depending on when the drive was manufactured you may need a firmware update. So check which version you have - the latest is PS02 from 5/25/06.

You can booktype +R discs w/ Nero or the Liteon Utility (to name 2).
Here's a link for the utility:

If you're in step 5 your order has been shipped - so next few days you will have it.

    Keep us posted!
