At Ahead's Nero site, there is discussion of conflicts with CD-burning softwares. Some CD-burning softwares modify (thus lock-up) certain Window files needed to burn CDs. The Ahead site gives refernce to Microsoft's fix.

If you had a software on your computer that locked-up the critical Window files, the later installed Roxio's ECDC, most likely Roxio's ECDC probably won't work.

By the way, Roxio ECDC is bad as it also modifies the Windows files. Removing Roxio ECDC still leaves the Windows files damaged. You will have to use the MS fix, --- or reformat and re-install Windows to get the Windows files corrected again. (Better to use Nero, as it works well with other CD-burning softwares)
