Great board - have been learning plenty.

Has anyone successfully copied a rental DVD from NetFlix?

I have a brand new Pioneer DVR-A04 that comes with Primo Prassi software. I was able to copy a DVD I actually bought (create Global Image to hard-drive, record Global Image to blank DVD-R media).

However, when I try the same process with a NetFlix DVD, I get a read error on the initial extract ... 'PxEngine error (Command: 28 Sense:05 ASC:6F ASCQ:03 reading from disc)'

Is NetFlix embedding some new protection scheme? Maybe I should try the standard ripping and authoring process everyone here seems to use...

    Please advise. Thanks.

Yeah, try to rip it first with usual suspects; SmartRipper, cladDVD or DVD Decrypter (Decrypter's "brute force" method should open it if others fail).

    I'm an idiot ;-)

The issue is NOT with NetFlix. The one successful copying process I took only works on unencrypted DVD's. NetFlix DVD's are nothing special.

DVDDecryptor was able to decrypt the movies to hard-drive.

    Thanks for your patience.
