Ok guys, I ahve used the search feature but couldn't find a definate answer. I am about to purchase a Modchip for my sister's boyfriend. I burn DVD+R movies for them and they play fine in his ps2. The model number of his ps2 is scph-30001 R. The serial number starts with U0. It has eight screws on the bottom. It has the electrical warning on the bottom also. I opened the expansion slot and there isn't even an enclave where you look for the extra screw, it is totally flat. So, I'm thinking it is a V4, but I want to make sure because it DOES play dvd movies that I back-up to DVD+R discs, and I thought V4 didn't play +R discs. Can someone confirm for me, I don't want to order the wrong modchip and then ruin his ps2 when I install it. Thanks in advace.

some v4's will play +r media some wont, some will play +r movies but wont play +r ps2 backups the only way to be sure is to try one and as for identifying your ps2 have a look here http://www.modchip.com/ps2/ps2id.htm
