Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have been having trouble with the burning stage of shrink, I have had no problem with the analysing or encoding only burning. It got only 8% into burning (using nero express) when it aborted - reading SCSI command aborted NEC_DVD_RW_ND 3500A\HZ TO. I have tried a few times but I have wasted 3 discs trying and have been up all night. I have had no problem burning using clonedvd but it doesn't shrink very well and I would really like to use shrink...Hope you can help. from brizzo

    Hi brizzo,

You don't say if you configured DVD Shrink to use Nero as a burner. If you haven't and are attempting to use Nero Express instead of Nero Classic Burning ROM, three lies your problem.

Here's a guide for Nero Burning ROM -

A guide for burning with Nero 6 Burning ROM

A 30-day, free, fully functional Nero 6 download can be had here:
    http://www.nero.com/us/631939541422774.php

    BURNING WITH NERO CLASSIC
    HINT:
First, create a folder for your work on your desktop OR your HD. – Name it something that you'll be able to find. I named mine C:\All My DVD Work\\The Last Samurai sings Swami (off key). Now load your IFO, BUP and VOB files there - make sure they are in a folder named VIDEO_TS written like that (all in Caps) - some programs like DVD Shrink will make the properly named folder for you, others you must make the folder yourself - Nero needs that folder with all it’s contents in order to work properly –

Burning a file made by DVD Shrink.
If you had used DVD Shrink to create a file on your HD you are truly in great shape. When you wish to burn, use the "File Browser" in Nero Classic (don’t use Wizard), trace your path back to “All DVD Work\ \The Last Samurai sings Swami (off key)”, you don’t have to remember where your work is or if you need to do anymore work on it, it is completely finished, ready to go – –

OK then, is everyone comfy ? Good - its now time for - -
“Uncle” ScubaPete’s Step by Step, Let’s burn with Nero 6 Guide -

First - Do not use Nero Wizard -
Please follow along EXACTLY - (might even want to PRINT IT OUT, it'll make following easier, don't ya know ?)

In case you're finding Nero's Burning ROM hard to find (sometimes it really is hiding (Lol). Go to "Start", "All Programs", "Nero", "Nero 6 Ultra Edition" and there you'll find "Nero Burning ROM" :)

When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the “New Compilation” window. Directly under the title “New Compilation” is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose “DVD”. Directly under that click on the “DVD Video Icon.” Then click “New” in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen.
You now are in the “DVD Video” window. In the left screen, click “VIDEO_TS”. In the “File Browser” screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the VIDEO_TS folder, the one you made earlier holding all of your files and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the “Shift” key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left and release the mouse button.
Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click “OK” and now, clear the room, stand up tall and shout out, “Burn Baby, BURN” ! One more time, let me hear you say it, “Who’s your Daddy Now ???”
Guess what my Friend ? You are done !!!

(Wheeew, now I really need a cigarette)

NOW, STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER ! !
Keep all fingers and toes away from Ms. Computer. Never mess with the lady when she’s working – it would be hazardous to your health, you understand -
Go and have your coffee, when Nero is done, she'll let you know ;-))

When looking for a guide written by a wack job, shop ScubaPete -

You would do far, far better to configure DVD Shrink correctly - "Edit", "Preferences", I/O tab, "tick" "burn with Nero".

If you don't like that, use DVD Decrypter as your burn engine it's good and it's cheap :)

Let me know how you do -

    Pete

Finally figured out my damn cookie, I've been trying for the past 4o minutes to reply to this....My question on this matter of burning is - CAN I use nero burning rom v5.5.7.1(what ever that means) or do I need v6 like you suggested. BECAUSE I really don't want to have to buy another program i have enough already. Also good suggestion about decrypt but I'm trying to back up a dvd file over 6gb so I need to shrink it down. Also I can't seem to enable neros ASPI file I have tried but it just sends an error message...H E L P please....thanks from brizzo down under

    BRIZZO,

Firrst off, you don't "enable" an ASPI Layer. It's either there or it isn't.

Here's a "Force" ASPI. though Nero's should be fine, here's another one and a "Checker" to make sure it's working.
    ASPI Checker -

    Force ASPI -

Now for the "Big question". NO, you cannot use Nero 5.5 with DVD Shrink BUT you can use the guide I've already posted for you. Have you tried it yet ?

If you don't want to give it a go -

Use this guide (middle of the page) -

Cheers, report back on your progress -

    Hey brizzo,

    Hey, we're glad you're burning up a storm :)
Consider this a parting invitation, stop on back, don't be a stranger, you're welcome even if you don't have problems to solve -

You can just "Hang out" and read some, improve your knowledge, help others if you can spot their problem, 3 heads are better than 2 (said the Cyclops to the Ogre) Or you could hang out in the "Safety Valve," a forum for gossiping about anything and everything under the sun :)

Check de place out, you just might find a little something that'll interest you -

Me ? Hey, I'll be over there, out from under that broiling hot sun, under the "Potted" Palm, right next to the water cooler. Just chewin' the fat and waiting for the next Newbie who needs a bit "O" help - Stop by and say "Howdy" -

I'll be lQQking forward to Sea'n you,

    Cheers my friend,

    Pete :p)

    Hi control02,

I don't mean to sound inatentive OR overly forgetful BUT what are you talking about ?

You've jumped in at the end of a thread and are talking about . . . . ? I have no idea . . . . I've even followed you around aD, trying to put your posts together to see if there were any topic that I could find that you needed help with but to no avail

What software are you using ?

    OR

As you aluded to in that last thread ?

You are continually asking for help COULD YOU POSSIBLY BE A LITTLE MORE SPECIFIC ?
