Problem with CD device under Windows 2000/XP

    Hi to all,

I have two computer systems. One with CD-RW (TDK) device and one with CD-R (SONY) and CD-RW (TEAC) devices.

My CD and CD-RW devices work pretty strange on Windows 2000 (on the first PC) and Windows XP (on the second PC). In fact they suddenly don't work. When I selected some drive Windows system responds with message 'Insert a disk into the drive X:' when there is a disk into the drive already.

    But what I found?!

When I reboot any of my machines with media into the drive it works perfectly. I can change the CDs and read and write and so on. But when I reboot my machine without a media into the drive I can't use it anymore.

As you presume I tried to reinstall the drivers, uninstall the devices, ...

Does anyone have any suggestions? How can I solve this problem without reinstalling the whole OS.

    Thanks in advance.
