Help I’m goin feckin’ nut here!

I’ve got a whole bunch of avi’s that I wanted to convert so as they’d play on my DVD player. I used TMPGEnc to convert Black Hawk Down (DivX, MPEG-3 audio) and IFOedit to create the final DVD structure with great success.
The problem came when I tried to convert some Xvid’s (AC-3 audio), I was left without any sound. After spending a lot of time trawling DVD forums I downloaded the AC-3 codec, I also changed the VFPI plug-in to the following:

    DirectShow Multimedia File Reader.......3
    AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader................1
    AVI VFW compatibility Reader.............0
    Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder.................0
    Wave File Reader..............................0
    BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG File Reader...........-2
    DVD2AVI Project File Reader 1.76+.....-2*
    TMPGEnc Project File Reader 2.58......-2*

    But still no sound.

I gave up on TMPGEnc and got my hands on Super DVD Creator, which was quicker and easier to use. This worked well giving me a video and audio file which I multiplexed with IFOedit. The only problem was the resulting movie was out of sync.

So if there’s anybody out there that can help with either of these problems that would be great.
