Hi there, I am relatively new at this but however I am trying to join avi files together. I am using virtual dub mp3 freeze. I can open the first file fine, but when I open the second file I get an error saying

"Cannot append segment: the audio streams have different data formats"

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated..........

    Cheers

    Simon

If you look at the file information you probably see that there is a slight difference in the audio data rates.
An actual example I had, in files that were otherwise identical, was the Audio Data Rate difference [131 & 133 kbps, it probably should be 128] between two files.

    Load file #1 into VirtualDub.
    Set Video ‘Direct Stream Copy’
Audio ‘Full Processing’ and ‘Compression’ to same settings as original [example MP3 48000 128 Stereo]
    Save file as new#1.
Repeat for second file; save as new#2.

Load new#1 and clip some frames from end (a 'key frame' cut preferred?).
Save the file with Video and Audio as ‘Direct Stream Copy’ as #1A.
Reload file #1A and append new#2
Save file with Video and Audio as ‘Direct Stream Copy’ as ‘Final.avi’

Note that the video is not recompressed, so no loss of quality.

If you don't clip the frames from the first file, then after they are joined the second half will be out of sync and nothing will get it into sync.
