what is it you're trying to download and from where?
There's a ton of dead links in the internet, so you got to be a little bit more specific here...
Are you trying to get some DVD software? Try the links in the download section of this site, they should work and you'll find pretty much everything a virgin um... I mean newbie ... needs to copy DVDs succesfully ;)

ive tried to download dvdshrink, decrypter and dvd2one, all links from the forum.
    message on my screen says
    connection to site failed
    An invalid argument was supplied
while trying to download dvdshrink 314setup2.zip
It read the same massage on the other two.
Its really starting to get to me now, it must be easier than this?
Yes i would love some software that is easy and quick to install, and for me to be able to copy my own and friends dvd. Its just not playing.
    Thanx

    weird....

ok, try clicking this link for DVD Decrypter
    http://fileforum.betanews.com/download.php?fid=1011845169

the links on this site for DVD Shrink
    http://www.dvdr-digest.com/software/software.php?file=dvdshrink

but actually I doubt that the situation will be any different there...

What internet browser and version are you using? Internet explorer? You might have some weird configurations there, maybe in the security settings.
Well I hope you get it figured out.

    And by the way...
don't say this out aloud on this forum, it's against the rules ;)
