I have a JLMS DVD ROM XJ-HD166. My problem is that no programs are recognizing the drive. When I put a blank dvd into it, it says to please insert a disc. Movies play fine in it. I tried to use Nero and it burned a video for me but it will not play in my dvd player or in my computer. Everything else I have tried to use such as Roxio, Burn4Free, and Final Burner are not recognizing the drive. Everything says that I need to insert a disc when there is already one in there. What can I use with this drive that will recognize it?!!

    Hi.

Isn't this just a DVD-ROM drive? In other words, it only reads DVDs and CDs, it doesn't burn them. Thus when you insert a blank disk, the drive has no idea what to do with it since it only reads already burned DVDs.

Run the Nero InfoTool and see what capabilities the drive has.
