tell me when all of a sudden when i burn DL discs using ImgBurn, that it burns at .05X?

yes, speed is on max, discs are verbatim DL. it takes freaking 2.5 hrs just to burn a DL.

then on top of all that, when i check "shutdown computer" after its complete, it doesnt shutdown? any help?

Yeah it shows this thing is taking too friggin long :) (you already knew that though :)

This drive with these Verb 8x dual layer media just does not want to average more then 0.6x.

Have any trouble with this same media before - 8x Verb DL?

I'd say take the burn speed down from max to 4x and see if by some chance that's makes any difference. Use Test mode to check the time - too slow abort.

If you have Nero may want to try burning rom though I think ImgBurn does a better job on these.

Can't hurt so give it a shot - uninstall the ide channel this drive is in. Reboot and windows will do it's thing.
Try ImgBurn again but have the test mode checked (simulation burn) Check the speed now.
Still friggin slow then do the same with the drive - uninstall the drive in device manager reboot and let windows do it thing & reinstall.

You don't have Nero by chance that you could try a burn and post the log for us do you?

    Yep just as easy.
Open burning rom set pick dvd-video, change the target size to dvd-9 (bottom right hand side of screen in Nero). Set the burn speed at 4x.

Save the log then post it - just be sure to edit out the serial # at the top of the log - begins w/ 1A, 1C or 5C.
Don't know which version of Nero you have but make sure up to date before you try. Early version of 6 & even 7 weren't the best for all on dl burning.

    hello,

i remember reading in another post that Joe Ryan said that there might be problems with 8x DL verbs having problems with older burners, basically because they are made different from the 4x & 2.4x DL verbs, so here is that post
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/500992#3027179

also i remember that he wrote a more detailed explanation about this subject in another post but haven't found it

found it here it is the more detailed reason

cool, thanks ill try it with nero and reply later.

funny thing is, before imgburn asked me to download the newest updated version....it would burn at 2.4X with no problems at all. which is why i find this kind of odd it slows to .05X now.

i even uninstalled imgburn, and re-downloaded, but i still get the slow .05X burn rate.

    ill let you know

    not a problem :)

Did you reinstall the latest version of ImgBurn again or the previous version that you used?

If you need a previous version you can get it here at afterdawn - link

i reinstalled the imgburn off the link you provided. and went to backup Pans laybrinth...and lol...this one hung at 55% and stopped.

and i had to ctrl/alt/delete out of it because it would even let me close it so there is no burn log.

Dam - did you give Nero at shot?

    Don't know which version you have ( 6 or 7) but make sure it's up to date - 6 would be 6.6.1.15a & 7 is 7.8.5.0.
