i'm trying to burn a 696mb(size i get in file properties on windows) file into a 700mb blank cd-r. I get the following error on the burning page:

There is not enough space to burn this compilation onto this disc.

Please insert another disc that provides more space.

I'm using Nero 6.0.0.15 and ISO Joliet with max of 11 characters, Mode 1 and ISO 9660 selected.

You should upgrade to our latest Nero when you get the chance, though this has nothing to do with your issue.

Do you have Overburning enabled in Nero's File->Preferences->Expert settings?

Also, you need to take into account the overhead for the Lead-In and Lead-Out process. This requires roughly 40MB, and use the Disc-At-Once feature not the Track-At-Once as the Trac-At-Once option try's to reserver space for the Lead-In for the next write operation to the disc.
