My Macbook's been running a little slower than normal. Nothing major, it just takes a little longer to log in and sometimes it'll freeze up for a second or two. The biggest thing is whenever I play files using VLC, the picture and sound stutters and I get this message:

ffmpeg: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)

Is there anything I can do to stop this happening? What can I do to speed my computer up? I've only had it for about a month, so I'm still a little unsure figure this stuff out. I was looking for play my xvid files through quicktime, but the codec I found for it only works on tiger and I'm running leopard.

Any help you can give me would be great!

Install Perian and try playing your movies through QuickTime Player.

Come back with your results and more information on your Mac model, operating system, etc. if you're having problems still.
