Probs with VCD quality

    Hi, you'll have 2 forgive me if there is an obvious soloution to this, but I am fairly new to the converting AVI 2 VCD scene.
    My problem is, is that when I convert an AVI file to an MPEG 1 file it shows the movie with coloured blocking on the screen (sort of like a scrambled sat/cable channel)
    How do I remove these coloured boxes.?

    Could you explain in more detail what kind of a video file you are converting, how you are doing it, and which MPEG compressors etc. you are using for the task.
