I have some 18+ gig mpeg files that are captures from my minidv camcorder. I want to back these up on dvd (data dvd if necessary) without compressing htem at all (I don't care if it takes a bunch of disks). I want to preserve the video at full quality exactly the way it was. Is there some kind of program that will chop the files up into dvd sized peices?

try using TMPGEnc it can chop your large mpeg files into smaller ones and you tell it how large you want them.

Yes exactly what I need thanks.

Actually I just remembered the files that are straight capture (unedited) are .avi not mpeg - will it still work?

It doesn't do any rencoding or compressing when you do this does it?
