properties box will not open or load

    ok when I right clike on desktop and properties the properties box will not open or load and display has gone missing in control panel .ive updateing drivers but says windows could not load installer. please help thanks . I have windows xp system restore wont work .
    win xp home , nortons firewall 2005 and nortons,anti.

    run adaware6 from lavasoft, gets rid of spyware also do an online scan with antivirus.com to confirm no viruses on system

    try reloading windows on top of self

    ok man i done and fix it it was to do with a file in system32 so i searched for file found it ziped it up back in to system32 magic it all works again
    desk.cpl in \..\system32. If that's not there, pop in your XP cd and open \I386\desk.cp_ with winzip/winrar/etc and place it back into \windows\system32. . cheers for you help man pm me on msn cheers.
