what is a AMD Athlon™ XP Processor 2800+
    512KB L2 cache & 266 MHz FSB in intel terms is it closer to a p42.4 or a p4 3.4

AMDs tend to run faster than Intels so its a P4 equivilent.

An Athlon 2800+ runs at about 2.4Ghz in real terms and that will show if you right click on my computer and view properties. In AMD terms it is a 2.8Ghz but not many people go by AMDs Ghz count. hoped this as helped.

    AMD speeds are about 80% of that of a p4, so a 2800 is a 2240mhz

    Huh?

    It runs 2.08Ghz actually.

Again, a Xp2800 runs 2.08Ghz ... not to mention that real-world performance takes into account MUCH more than the clock speed of the CPU (a lesson both AMD and Intel have learned)
