hello ppl, I would like you to shed some lights on my problem here. I have a ps2 slim v15 with the DMS4 EZI PRO(solderless). Installation went fine, managed to flash it with the Toxic OS latest and everything was working almost fine afte that.
Ill use for example my back up of Front Mission 4. The first days it would start fine, run the intro movie, might get sound outsynch or freeze but it will continue and would allow me to play normally. Now the ps2 will not boot at all. The power led is in the standby mode as it should and it would go green when pressed, nothing is seen, not even the sony logo when I try to boot without a cd/dvd.
Retrying with the switch results the same. It would start normally if I dissassemble the ps2 and reassemble it, when I stop playing, the next day will happen the same.

    Any ideas?

Those solderless chips are notoriously flaky - it could very well be the installation giving you problems.

However, I'd have MANY issues with DMS4 solder chips, and I refuse to use them anymore. I've had more arrive DOA than working. It's possible your chip is bad too.

this past weekend I had an extensive electronics workshop in my room along with dms4 and ps2, and guess what, I managed to get it working fine. After much dissambling of the ps2(I didnt want to take out the dms4 sockets), I notice that it was the screws that were too tight. Experimenting with them, I got them to a sweet spot when I closed the ps2, its hasnt give me a single failure or problem, and its been nearing 2 weeks of constant playing(around 4-6 hours straight) and havent seen a single failure and now Im a happy camper!!
In 2 days I went thru some of my friends and have several(19) backups running absolutely fine.
Hope this serves as hint on what to look for when getting failures like I did

nope, its not a bad chip at all. Ive been playing like a madman during these days(I finished .Hack Infection) with no problems at all. Yesterday I was in the mood to start .Hack Mutation, and the ps2 wont boot. Same as before. Tore it dawn to mobo alone, wont boot. Removed the metal undercover, it booted. Replace the metal undercover again and put the screws, wont boot. Guess that I have some kind of short whenever the metal plate and screws are replaced.
Anyone had this kind of problem? Gonna try placing some insulation like the foam that comes in pc mobo boxes, but Im wondering if the ps2 would heat enough to melt that thing away...
    Ideas anyone?
