    * USA SCPH 30001 Version 1 = Serial Number begins with U1 Date Code 0D
    * USA SCPH 30001 Version 2 = Serial Number begins with U0 Date Code 0D
    * USA SCPH 30001 Version 3 = Serial Number begins with U1 Date Code 1A
    * USA SCPH 30001 Version 3 = Serial Number begins with U2 Date Code 0D

    8 Screws at the base of PS2 and electrical warning stamped on the bottom= version 4

    I know this is an old thread, but i've lost the one i did ages ago that oner and some others helped me out with that explained what version of PS2 i had. If i was to listen to the comments above, my unit musnt even be a PS2 since it starts SCPH-300003. I have two units, one has 8 screws and one has 10 screws.

    can anyone run it past me agian how to tell the units and whether or not ill find it easy or difficult to install a DMS 3 chip :)

    I have experience with electronics, a little bit :D
