I'm ordering a pioneer A05 today and I want to be able to copy my DVD movies and ps2 game with it.

I've read alot of threads on here that helped alot but just want to get some specific info. On the chart of compatibilty, it said DB for all chips in regard to movies. What does that mean. Honestly I would rather copy movies than games. The only game I really wanna play lately is Madden. So what do I need for movies?

Also, any suggestions on what chip I should get? It's possible I know someone who could solder, but I don't want to go there unless I have to.

I have a v5/6 ps2. I only care about movies and US games. What mod chip do you recommend? Where would you buy it?

    Thanks!

you can play copied movies even without a mod chip

the db stands for direct boot

as for chip I would go for a magic 3.1 of messiah 2 pro the messiah 2 pro is more expensive but will boot doubble check games

    modchipman.com is good,
messiah 2 pro is best chip for the money.
magic 3.1 wont play double check games on v7 ps2 might be alright on your v5/6

messiah 2 pro dont disable macromedia or support out of region dvd movie.

in this case for the money the 3.1 will be the best chip you will be able to play all games since your version 5/6 is not affected by doubble check

messiah is a good chip and is best for the money on a version 7 but since you dont have that the 3.1 is the best solder chip for you

I agree on v5/6 magic 3.1 would be best now that they are only 15.00 (wow cheap)

    messiah is 40.00

i suggest you get a magic 3.1. since you don't have a v7 magic 3.1 won't be as outdated on a v5/6 as on a v7 because magic 3.1 won't boot games that have double check. For people that have v7 ps2's should go for apple chip,dms3 2.0, or a messiah 2 pro.

Thanks for the info, I'll either get the magic 3.1 or fliptop, depending on what I think about soldering!

    Where would I find a 3.1 for $15_X_X_X_X_X_[small]Athlon 1800
    727 RAM
    Pioneer A05[/small]

    sounds good

just a warning dont under estimate the difficulty of installing a chip
if you dont have any soldering experience get someone to do it for you or go with the flip top
