My HDMI port on my launch 60GB playstation gave up. I took it in for repairs and the tech said that the tracks on the motherboard were broken, however the vga port still worked fine.

I purchased a component cable and connected it but the output resolution i get is only 576i and i cannot change it. The tv i am using is the samsung ps43d490.

Does anyone have any idea what i should try?

    Cheers

It is possible to solder jumper wires across the broken traces on the motherboard if you know what you are doing. It sounds like the PS3 was moved around with the cables still connnected and put a strain on the connector.
