Does anyone know the value of this component? I am troubleshooting my hdmi circuit back to the encoder and I am reading open line across this component.

it is a resistor & what do you mean by value as in cost or ohms(resistance)?

I would like to know the reading in ohms. My meter is reading O.L across that resistor and I do not have a spare board to compare too.

some surface mount resistors were marked with "0" on them. all resistors surface mounted have values printed on them. worked for 4yrs at Celestica back in the late 90's early 2000's working on server boards & nokia cell phones.

These do not have anything marked on them I looked at them through a microscope. I think everything with Sony is top secret.

the resistor could be upside down & is only printed on 1 side.

Well I pulled the resistor and know writing on either side. I was reading an article and it was saying after 2013 some companies stopped writing on there small smd resistors.

test the resistor again with the multimeter to see if still zero ohm or not.

Hmm. Tested off the board and getting 26k. You would think being on the board the meter would read a lower resistance not open line. I think maybe it has a faulty ic encoder. I ordered a new one I will check back when I get it soldered in.

what is the matter with the board?

I was getting a black screen (WLOD). If you look at the picture on the hdmi port you can see pin 1 is tore off of the pad and pulled from the port. I disassembled it and replaced the port and still have the same symptoms. I then checked all the traces for continuity back to the encoder ic and all the other pins read fine except my meter was reading open line across the resistor on pin 13. I pulled the resistor and it read 26k ohms. I am not sure if that is the correct value or not all the other resistors on the other pins are reading 2k.

looking at that picture, was pin 3 touching pin 2?

It sure looks that way the new Port is already in so we will never know.

see if can follow those 2 traces(2 & 3) to see where they go to see if the component(s) at the other end is ok or not.

Pin 2 is ground and pin three goes directly to the hdmi encoder IC. So if pins 2 and 3 were bridged that would dead short the encoder directly to ground. Not good for the encoder ic.
