I cannot believe what I am hearing about the next console coming out. No backwards capability and can't play used games in it??? Why? Do they think this is going to work and going to sell? Used game have been a part of gaming history since day one! Hope they reconsider. This is one gamer that ain't buying it

To game publishers used games are the cancer of gaming.

Publishers are out to make money, the idea that someone can buy a used game from someone else and not get a cut is just outrageous to them. Publishers would do anything to kill the second-hand games market!

And the horrible truth is that day is looming ever closer!
In the past consumer rights were in favour of the consumer, we've all heard the saying "the customer is always right". Today rights even laws favour the corporations! Already we have games where you get a use-once code to play online. If you sell that game on, the buyer must then purchase a new online gaming code from the publishers. The very idea would have probably been thrown out several years ago, but now noone bats an eyelid.

the truth is that corporations are bribing government officials to pass laws in their favour. The US government is already controlled by corporations, other western countries are influenced by corporations.

Well this is a gaming forum, not a forum to talk about conspiracies corrupt governments.

TBH I think any self-respected gamer should already be boycotting any and all $ony products and not even be considering buying the PS4. Until it gets hacked and you buy a 2nd hand one then pirate all the games :p $ony deserves it!

Especially rumors that old. Sony or Microsoft or even Nintendo might try this, but it is up to us not to buy these games. And if noone buys them they'll revert back to the old state (that's what happened with UBISOFT and its new oh-so-great copy protection).

There is the problem of programming. It is ALOT easier to start from scratch than it is to have to take in effect all the crap you did in the past. It is usually not good for the company if there is no backword compatibility for buissnes reasons. It is however good for the company if they can produce software and hardware cheap. I can not understand all the people who need to replay the old games on all their new computers.

cazer is correct, that is just a rumor (with some possible truth).

The rumor is that Sony is abandoning the cell processor in favor of another for easier game development, but in doing so will make ps3 games incompatible. I can sort of see them doing this, like they did with the ps2 to ps3, so they can just release a console with two hardware specs in it and sell it for $700+, then drop the support for ps3 in later models to drop price, but they are already in gamers sh*t books... and they know it.

I'm more in favor of the idea of waiting for it to be hacked. Plus, I don't feel the need to buy any more consoles in the future.

Instead of the ps4, just buy a gaming pc and a controller, you'll get alot more for your money.

...for the next year. Then that gaming computer will be outdated and you have to upgrade it. With a console you won't have to do that in 6 or 7 years.

That's a subject for debate. I've had my gaming rig for 4 years now and It hasn't had a problem playing anything that has come out to date. The only thing I've updated on it was the processor (went from quadcore to I7) I built to to run Crysis (purely for bragging rights lol) and the latest thing I've ran on it was Skyrim on max settings and its smooth as silk. It cost me about $1500 when i built it back then, but its probably worth about 600-800 now.
