So i bought my son a PSP 1000 as a gift for learning how to read. I bought it from a pawn shop but it used to belong to a guy i knew. I bought him a few games ( wipeout pure, need for speed most wanted, loco roco 2, lego batman, little big planet ) He's 6. It will only play the first two games and when he tries to play the others is reads "the game could not be started" (DADADADA) I am not good with video games at all and when trying to figure it out its like reading french, and i dont speak french! so i brought it to a game stop to see if they knew what was wrong with it. The guy in there reset it to original settings and it still wouldnt work. He thought that the owner before hacked it because when turned on it didnt say sony it had a bunch of other stuff that popped up. How do i get it to play purchased games? I got it to connect to the internet and it has a 4gb card in it thats empty. I need it to be kid friendly and easy so if i need to help him with it i can. iv sat down and looked it over for a long time and am coming up with nothing. it has a icon to update ver 6.00 but when tried to do this it comes up with the same error message. Please help and speak in very easy to understand english with step by step on how to fix this, and please explain and lingo cause i wont understand. thanks :)

Your problem is that it is on a very low firmware (I am guessing below 5.00). Go to system settings and system information. And it seems to have some plugins installed. Before starting the PSP up, press the shoulder buttons and keep them pressed and then press power button. You should be able to enter the recovery menue that way. Report back if that works.
