hi just wondered discs with purple dye are thease more universally compatable with dvd players?
This is not a scientific, but in my experience--Yes, disks with the purple dye are generally good quality and more compatible with players--New stand alone DVD players (less than 2 years old)seem to be able to play all or most DVD's. Look around this forum, especially the DVD Media Forum and you will find out which types are generally the best--
I use branded ritek +r's,purple dye. I haven't found a player yet that hasn't liked them. I'm sure that there are brands that wouldn't play them, but even a dinosaur player I found in my garage plays 'em fine.
