I am interested in getting my playstation chipped, but I don't know which chip to go with. I've read good things about both, and wanted to know if there was a major difference between them. Thanks.

This what I think the deal is.
Magic 2 was a copy of the Messiah.
Magic 3 added internal clock and voltage regulator for 3.3V so 2 less lines to solder.
May be some issues with Magic 3 (lots of speculation about overheating) Not sure! Mine works fine.
    Messiah 2 has sleep feature
Magic 3.1 has sleep feature (May have resolved issues with 3.0)
Sleep feature is just chip going into low power state after booting, or holding reset until chip has finished so PS2 boots normally.
    Not enough feedback to tell.
Magic seems to be easier to find in North America then Messiah.

Messiah 2 is a new modchip that just came out a few weeks ago. (Final version not beta!)

The magic 3 and messiah 2 just really do the same job. I have a magic 3 and have had no problems whatsoever with it. I hear the magic 3.1 is excellent but havent used a ps2 with it yet! To be honest I'd get the magic 3 if I were you but thats just because I own it ;-)
