How long does it normally take to burn a movie to a DVD from your hard drive, or to copy a DVD with a single drive DVD burner?

I just burned a movie to a DVD from my hard drive and it estimated the time at 1 hour and 42 mins and thats how long it took.

I heard the normal time is 30 to 45 min. Am i doing something wrong?

    I use DVD-R 4x media.

    hard question to answer

it depends on compression size, processor speed, read speed, etc.

too many variables to get a specific time but your time is not bad

Also depends on the file format eg whether the files are DVD compliant, mpeg, avi etc and whether you are talking about files ready to burn or a movie waiting to be rendered and then burnt. Please give more info.

... That time may be a tad long, but burning slow makes a better copy that'll play on more machines ... I'd worry more about producing a good copy than winning races ...
