    Hello,

I am new to all this stuff so I went through alot of
the threads in this forum and I would like to ask one
    question -

If I have a backuped game as an iso image file, do
I need to patch it up somehow and then burn it to
a dvd, or I can burn it without any patch and it will
work ? does this swap magic cd/dvd work the same way
with all the games (meaning you can boot each game and
play it w/o any problems, as with a modchip).

    Thanks :)

from what i understand, most games can be burned and played without a patch. For online its a bit different, you have to patch up a bit...this thread will explain more...http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/80568

Some games will also need to be rebuilt or patched up as well, im not sure where the thread is for rebuilding but its here somewhere, maybe the next person that come along can paste the link for it.

99% percent of games will work with no rebuilding needed.
(ALL online games will require DNA patching if your
    going to use them online.)
The other 1 percent are newer dvd9 games (i.e. god of war,the guy game,mercaneries,gt4.)

Hi Jizmak and thanks for the update, it seems strange
to me that if there is such a simple solution to
playing backup copies like the swap magic cd/dvd,
modchips are so popular, from what I so on the internet
they cost much more and you have to take a risk when installing them (or pay a lot to have the console moded
    by a 'professional' modder).

There must be something wrong with this cd/dvd, I read
a lot of threads about problems with those tools, slimtool, magictool etc. I got so confused, so what is
    the real deal here ?

    Thanks :)

the SM solution is the cheapest and less riskier. The only thing with the SM is dat u have to swap the disks over and for the slim PS2 u hav to open it up using the sticker as a hinge and tape the sensors or if u want use magic switch/slim tool/ghost switch but ur lid will stay open. The reason y ppl use modchips is if they dont care abt warranty or cant b bothered switching or they just want to.
    hope dat answeres ur question

Thanks for your help aK619, I appreciate it :).

I decided to try this swap magic, but I would like
    to clarify a few opints.

So, from what you're saying (if I understand correctly),my only option to use the swap magic and to keep the pstwo lid closed is by using the technique with the sticker and hinge ?

Could you please direct me to any page that shows
the sticker and hinge technique you mentioned.
(if I understand correctly, with this technique, I only
need to buy the cd/dvd without any accessory?)

Also, I looked through a lot of sites offering swap
magic, prices differ, but the average is around $20,
can you suggest a good reliable (and maybe also cheap)
site where I can get the swap magic cd/dvd).

    Thanks :)

No, i believe you can close the lid while using the slimtool.

Another method would be purchasing your SwapMagic discs in a combo set with a replacement fliptop lid. Or you could buy these seperately. This eliminates needing the other tools or doing the tape mod.

Hi dragulaAC and thank you very much for your feedback :)

I would like to be 100% sure about that, can anyone
who owns and uses this technique share his experience
    with us, thanks :)

I read about this method, but you have to open the console, and that voids your warranty and a little risky (I would have taken the ps2 to install a modchip
, I think that would be easier), but I would like to
stick with the most less intrusive technique there is,
    if possible.

    Thanks :)
