Ok, I have a question (obvious). My dad has a laptop with a dvd player, and on my CPU I have a cd burner. Is there any way to get the movies from his computer to mine to burn them? Thanks in advance.

a 100Mb ethernet connection via a cross-cable between the 2 computers will allow you to transfer data at a decent speed. Should take less than a couple of minutes to download a CD load of data. Whether you want to encode the DVD to mpeg on your dad's machine or on yours is upto you (remember that this process does take a while and he may object).Transfering 4GB+ of data will probably take quite a few minutes via ethernet tho. Probably better if you invest in a DVD player for your laptop if you intend on doing it often.
