I have patriot memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220079) and its frequency is suppose to bo 400, yet in cpu-z it is set at 200. I could change it in the bios, but if I do is there a chance that it will hurt anything, overheat, etc?
I think it's normal that it shows 200mhz because you're using DDR memory which stands for double data rate.So if you take the frequency shown in your case and double it,you will get 400.I'm using DDR333 and in frequency it shows as 166Mhz,and when i double that same figure i get 332(333). So you better don't touch anything in the bios,if you try to change the figure in the bios, then if i'm right you will be doing some sort of memory overclocking which is a completely different story and should be done with extreme precaution. But as i've explained to you,you don't need to worry about your frequency being 200,it's normal if you're using DDR400.
