Does it matter which sticks of ram should go in closer to the cpu? Would it be the bigger size stick of ram or the smaller size ram that should sit closest to cpu? A friend of mine at work said the smaller size ram should sit closer to the cpu. Anyone clarify this please? XP and Vista OS's.

No can't see why thatd be true. However if you have dual channel memory make sure you have them on the same channel. This is usaully done my a colour ram slots.

Computer is an eMachines T5082 model. Gonna install XP on it. So is it best to put smaller stick of ram closest to cpu and the larger stick in the second slot?
