Hi All ... Can someone please help me with this problem .. I recently bought some secondhand ram its = SAMSUNG 1GB 1Rx4 PC2-3200R-333-10-C1 My new computer will accept = DDR2 400 /200mhz DDR2 533 /266mhz I did what you are suppose to do , turn off the computer etc, not touch the terminals etc and installed it .. When I turned on the PC all I got was a series of beeps , that told me that the ram was dead ... The person I bought the ram from has said that my motherboard has burnt it out ???? Is this possible for my motherboard to damage this ram ??? I hope someone can give me the answer to this problem . Thanks Rob
Hi ... Yes the other stick of ram I bight works fine in my board .... The other stick was new and is 533mhz, but my bios has an auto mode for ram as well as being able to change what frequency the ram is ... I installed the other stick first in auto mode, nothing !... I then tried it with the bios set at 333mhz , again nothing , the PC would`nt boot ... Then I tried the new stick of ram in auto mode and it works fine , I then added the other stick but nothing , it only showed that I had 1gb in my pc ... Thanks for the reply Rob
Sorry if I`m maklinmg this semm a bit confussing , I bought 2 sticks of ram , 1 GB each .. I was new , the other secondhand , its the secondhand one that is dead not the new one thats working fine .. Rob
Basically I need to know if its possible to burnout ram even though the bios is set to auto configue for speed and frequency ? Can you damage ram if its not exactly what you pc can accept , or will it run at a slower speed for example ...? Thanks
will run at slower speed so that if have 2 different speed sticks, both will run at the slowest of the 2. send dead 1 back as a doa as wasn't your fault.
