Hi, I've got a problem with my PS2 Reality Media Player v1.50. I've got a v4 PS2 and I use a slide card and Swap Magic 3 to load up backups and imports and I haven't had any problems loading up the Media Player. Its just I've tried to load a DivX AVI file, but I keep on getting an error saying 'No index in AVI file'.

I have burnt the CD properly as I used the cdgenps2 to generate the PS2 format CD ROM with the DivX AVI file on there. And I burnt it at 2x speed with CDRWin. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to change a setting in the AVI file or something or re-encode with lower/higher bitrate etc, etc?

its the old PS2 630mb limitation problem with cd's again.. cut the image to under 630 and it will be fine, including the media player if u have it on the same cd

annoying i know as a lot of avi/divx are @700mb

I've done a bit of experimenting with my DVD video Rips and you were right jonels.

I've found that only 630 Mb (or smaller) DivX AVI files work with Swap Magic 3 and Reality Media Player 1.50. Just thought I'd leave this here for other people who are in a similiar situation.

I am also using the Swap Magic boot discs and I have a problem burning it. First I burned it with Nero and I heard I should not burn it with that and the Nero disk did not boot up. I then tried to burn it with CDRWIN and it fails everytime. I followed the steps exactly as outlined on the site.

First I did not make my own iso. Then I extracted the pre-made iso and I added my own file on it. I repaired the sectors and did all that stuff. I didn't do that the previous time. It seems that each time I repair the sectors of the bin/cue it fails the burning.

I am using Ritek, I thought that was good for PS2's hearing about Ritek G04 and G05. This time I had the file in the index dir and I didn't repair it and burnt it with nero at 4x, didn't try it yet but I will as soon as my brother stops playing San Andreas. And thats on a CompUSA disc burned at 3.5x and I can't see the road in certain parts. It does not appear.

If you guys have $70 I would suggest buying the the Phillips DVP-642 dvd/divx player. It plays dvd-+rw, cd-+rw, avi, divx 3, 4, 5, xvid, mpeg1, mpeg2, mp3, jpg, and some .wrv files. Its a progressive scan dvd player and one of the best products I've purchased.

It just seems like much less of a hassle than ps2 media player. I know this is a little off topic but I thought I'd suggest it for anyone who may be interested

If you're having problems burning with NERO and CDRWin, then just use burnatonce. I haven't had any problems burning the reality player with burnatonce.

    One last question people.

How do you get VCDs to work with the reality media player? It recognises the disc and the directories fine. But, whenever I try to go into the MPEGAV folder where the MPEG file is stored (in the browser in the media player), theres nothing there.

What am I doing wrong? I thought that the reality media player was capable of playing VCDs.

No its not capable of playing VCD or SVCD. You can only run .VOB files and thats like 15 minutes per 700mb CD-R.

Yeah but what if I burned the VCD as a data CD and put the MPG file straight onto the CD as it is (not as a .dat file as it usually is on a VCD). Will the reality media player play the movie as a .mpg file?
