I have Ps2 V4 & NoSolder Modchip. I'm using GS2 to swap my DVD-R backup of GTA3. The only way I get the game to run is if I us the Original then swap the backup. Does the NoSolder Mod play DVD-r backups or only CD-R backups? PLEASE SOMEONE LET ME KNOW!

    1. boot ar/gs2 to the main screen
    2. press eject and swap with original dvd (which is bigger than the game you are trying to play)
    3. select start game, without codes
    4. hold eject till light turns orange
    5. swap with dvd-r game

i have never managed to boot dvd-r
    with the equipment you have.
    I tried for 6 months.......

just got swap magic 2 boot disks
booting dvd-r with them is easy,
single swap...take dvd boot disk out...
    put dvd-r backup game in.

So what you're really saying is:
Get rid off the AR2/GS2 disks and buy the Swap Magic 2 boot disks ... ?
Because these will boot DVD backups and the AR2/GS2 will not (or just sometimes) boot them....

SUCCESS! I have the no-solder MOD chip for PS2 V5. I was unable to boot DVD backups using Gameshark 2.0 and all of the seemingly superstitious methods of booting described out there. The seller - Modchip.ca told me that I needed to get Swap disks and that would do the trick. Even though I was told that the Gameshark would do the trick previously. I received the Swap disks yesterday $25 for DVD and CD versions. I put it in the drive and "Insert Disk" was displayed. I held in the eject button until the drawer opened. Then, swapped with my backup and pushed X. Started right up!!! Memorex and TDK brands. +R and -R both worked. RW didn't work thought. For those squeemish about soldering. Most people it seems from what I've read. This method is great. the no solder chip was $20 I think and the disks were $25. Add in shipping for about $10 and for $55 you're able to run backups of DVDs and CDs for PS2. One of the PS2s is broken. I'm not sure how. It's possible that the small cable on the no solder chip was pinched when I replaced the case. Does anyone know where I could get a PS2 V5 repaired?
