I recently got a modded ps2 and I was wondering if someone could tell me the recommended burn speed, my writer is a TSSTcorp 16x with TDK DVD+R 16x discs. I've tried burning at 8x and 16x and the discs work fine, is burning at 16x alright? Also, does it really matter if I use + or - because I have the booktype set to DVD-ROM

TDKs are bad for your PS2, only use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony.

Burn 8x speed discs at 4x, and 16x speed discs at 8x.

A general rule is to use -R for the old fat PS2s and +R for the slims.

TDK have been making media for years a dam site longer than verbatim,i find it odd a fair few people tend to rubbish this, or rubbish that, yet never provide an explanation or better still proof,i use TDK's,verbatim, dyson, imation,HP,they all seem to work fine,as for being no good for PS2..lmao..the later slimline PS2's all have the improved laser so i bet your PS2 will be fine mine certainly is.

The difference between + media & r is nothing more than format type & compatability, just like hd & blue ray,tho r is more widely compatible with most players tho that's negligible these days,no one can say one is bettter than the other since both media's have there flaws

As for burn speeds that depends on the burner & dvd, i usually burn at 2x or 4x movies & games

Always burn at half the max
    so if it's a 16x disc burn at 8x

as far as the 16x TDK DVD+R as long as they are made in Japan then they should be fine... should code out to Taiyo Yuden or Ritek which are good discs
