Recording DVD's to play on my PC

    I have a Sony PCG-FX310 notebook that has a DVD/CD player...what kind of DVD recorder do I need to buy that will play discs I record on this PC?

     ... You wern't very clear as to exactly what type of recording you want to do ... For backing up movies you'll need an external writer for your laptop ... Now if you want to record Tv programs, you'll need a set top recorder (basically a disc VCR) ... I have a LiteOn LVW-5005 that I'm very happy with ...

    Thanks for your reply...what I want to do is record from television to DVD...& then watch that recording on my notebook.
