If you use a restore CD, you need to have the discs that came with that particular computer. If you don't have access to those discs, then you'll have to use a retail disc of the operating system.

It sounds like your computer shipped without restore CD's and that you were prompted to create your own. This is becoming more and more common with new computers. Did you change any hardware on your computer after you created the restore discs? I've had this happen when I had a motherboard go bad and it was replaced and the restore disc no longer worked. It may be similar with other hardware as well, such as a DVD drive, but I can't say for sure. I know that the discs that come with HP for Roxio won't work if you use a different DVD drive, but I don't know if that would be a problem for the restore discs as well.

I already did, they suggested ordering a new recovery cd and I did. I guess we will see in 5-6 days if the cd was the problem anyway thanks for your help
