    Hi!
I've just bought a brand new NEC 3500A DL DVD+-RW burner. It seems to be nice and stable. Since I live in Europe the player is set to Region 2, and it's possible to change the region settings for additional 4 times until the burner permanently locks itself on the last setting. I know that there is a Region Free hack FirmWare out there, but I won't use it just yet.

I was wondering how does region settings effect burning of the discs? I mean, does the region-thing only concerne reading and copying of original discs or does it even mean that if I made my own DVD-disc will it also be only playable on stand alone DVD-players with same region settings?

    Thanks in advance!

It depends what software you use to decrypt the dvd that you want to copy.
If you use Dvd shrink or Dvd decrypter they will make the movie region free anyway.
